Sports Day 2021
Year 4 had a lovely time for their sports day. It was very strange without the parents but they all tried their best in each activity and it was a great day.
The Year 3 & 4 athletics teams took part in the borough athletics tournament today. 25 schools competed to become borough champions. The children had to take part in sprinting, throwing, jumping and long distance events. We had some fantastic individual performances and at the end of the day, the Year 4 team finished in 10th place overall. Well done Chinemerem, Cherish, Marcela, Marlena, Ijara, Courtney, Benas & Remiel!
YOUNG INTERPRETERS CLUB. YEAR 4 After - School Club Mrs Brown
Children in Year 4 have welcomed visitors to the club. In our first session, Miss Kahn, who is the EAL lead for our borough, kindly joined us to talk about her experiences of learning English as a young child, joining her primary school in England. This session was able to open our eyes to the issues and difficulties that may often be faced by children joining school not speaking or understanding English. Her talk was very moving and enlightening for us all and it gave our ‘Young Interpreters’ ideas as to how we can support new learners of English in our school as well as visitors and help to settle them into the learning environment. We hope that Miss Kahn will be able to join us again.
The ‘Young Interpreters’ were also able to welcome Mr Kavanagh to the club. The children were able to fully appreciate what it may be like for some young new Students who be may be in the early stages of learning English, when he spoke in Gaelic. Children were then able to appreciate the strategies that we can use to support others. During our club it is great to hear so many languages being spoken. Children in Year 4 also learn French, so we have very clever children.
Year 3 & 4 Quadkids Athletics
The Year 3 & 4 athletics team went to the Jim Peters Stadium at Mayesbrook Park this week to take part in the annual athletics competition. 28 schools took part in total. We had some fantastic individual performances from our children and the Year 4 team of Joel, Uzoma, Breanna, Wonuola, Daniella, Elizabeth, Francis and Ryan A performed brilliantly throughout the day. They also won their team relay race. Well done Year 4!
Tennis Competition - Summer 2018
The Year 3 & 4 tennis team travelled to Riverside Secondary School this week to take part in the annual mini tennis tournament. The 4 girls and 4 boys were split into two mixed teams and there were lots of excellent performances on display! Both teams had a number of wins and finished in second place in their groups. Well done Year 3 & 4!
Autumn Term 2017
IPC Topic - Temple, Tomb and Treasures - (Exploring Ancient Egypt)
In November the children eagerly invited their parents to an exhibition to share their learning journey on Ancient Egypt. Working within a group - each group, were specialist in an aspect of the ancient civilisation - the children were able to share their knowledge, exhibits and answer questions from their visiting parents. Their parents and I were extremely proud of their enthusiasm and the hard work contributed by every child. Well done Year 4!
